Articling Program

The Partners and Associates at Watson Goepel Maledy LLP put great emphasis on developing the most dynamic and rewarding articling experience possible.  Our objective is to create a learning environment centered around growth and practical experience. We seek to provide our students with as much exposure in every area of law as possible throughout their first year, while providing the support necessary to succeed. 

Our firm is very flexible in nature, and as a result, so is the articling program which it encompasses.  We offer a non-structured articling program so that our students have the most balanced and diverse educational experience possible and the opportunity to pursue their interests freely. Our program provides first hand experience in drafting complex documents and researching large and intricate files.  The program enables students to have their own files which they can run from start to finish. Students are also provided the opportunity to appear in both the B.C. Provincial and Supreme Court.

Applying

Although we are a mid-sized firm, our student program is designed to replicate the communion seen only in smaller firms while having the advantages of a larger firm.  Students can work alongside our experienced practitioners and gain valuable insight from their depth of experience.  The level of comradery and commitment our firm invests in our students provides room for only a select few to be accepted into the program out of hundreds of applicants.  This recruitment system allows us to invest heavily in the students which we do select thus attracting high-calibre candidates to our firm.  Although academic success is a factor in our selection process, our firm is looking for well-rounded individuals with both the confidence and competency to develop into first-class lawyers.
